Big Update To Google’s Ranking Drop Documentation

Google updated the documentation on how to diagnose ranking drops to fix what's wrong. Google revised their instructions, including five new steps for troubleshooting ranking decreases. More than 400 more words in the updated edition address both minor and major ranking decreases. Although some of the changes are debatable, the updated version is an improvement over the original.

Google March 2024 Core Update Finished April 19th (A Week Ago)

A week ago, Google completed the March 2024 core upgrade, but they did not notify us until today. It began on March 5, 2024, and took 45 days to roll out until officially ending on April 19, 2024. Additionally, Google reported that, compared to their expectation of 40%, this helped cut low-quality and unoriginal content in search results by 45%.

Google Crawler Documentation Has A New IP List

Google revised their crawler documentation with a second list of IP addresses corresponding to crawlers Google doesn't control. Google included a range of IPs for bots that users of Google products activate in their updated documentation on Google bots and crawlers. Importantly, for publishers who are whitelisting Google-controlled IP addresses, the feed names were changed. Publishers who wish to prevent scrapers from using Google's cloud and other crawlers that aren't affiliated with Google directly will find the adjustment helpful.
