Google's latest update, the Infini-Attention feature, is reshaping the landscape of SEO. With the introduction of a new IP list for Google Crawlers, webmasters need to adapt their strategies to ensure optimal visibility. Moreover, Google emphasizes that the crawl budget now extends across all Googlebot activities, not just limited to web search, underscoring the importance of comprehensive optimization efforts.

Google’s New Infini-Attention And SEO

Google's Attention to current models, such as those based on Google's core algorithm. Infini-attention is a new technique that Google has reported on. It enables it to process enormous volumes of data with "infinitely long contexts" and can be readily incorporated into existing models to enhance their capabilities significantly.

The part about “infinitely long contexts” may affect how some of Google’s search systems can be updated.

Google Crawler Documentation Has A New IP List

Google revised their crawler documentation with a second list of IP addresses that correspond to crawlers Google doesn't control. Google included a range of IPs for bots that users of Google products activate in their updated documentation on Google bots and crawlers. Importantly, for publishers who are whitelisting Google-controlled IP addresses, the feed names were changed. Publishers who wish to prevent scrapers from using Google's cloud and other crawlers that aren't affiliated with Google directly will find the adjustment helpful.

Google: Crawl Budget Goes Across All Googlebot Crawling, Not Just Web Search

Google considers all Googlebot activity across all verticals when determining the crawl budget and ensuring that Google does not crawl your site excessively or insufficiently. This covers all crawling activities, including searching the web, seeing advertisements, and using the Merchant Centre.

Google's John Mueller was asked by Christian Radny, "Does merchant centre crawling (automatic updates) count for crawling budget?"

John Mueller replied, "Sure - it's a load on your server. The goal is to avoid breaking your server through a high load."
